Robosub 2012

The 15th edition of Robosub competition was celebrated from the 16th to the 22th of July in the TRANSDEC installations of the North American Navy, in San Diego, California. And we were there.

 

The much anticipated moment for which we had been working during all year had finally arrived:the Robosub competition. The team leaders and the project manager crossed the ocean to test themselves and to show all the potential of our robot.

 

The main mission of the AUVs that participated in this challenge was to demonstrate their autonomy across the “Ides of TRANSDEC” circuit. The vehicles, departing from an initial platform, had to be able to identify buoys of different colours, cross a PVC gate, launch torpedoes and makers, handle objects and eventually, recognize acoustic signals.

 

After a very long week full of repairs and suffering, with several damaged sensors and a direction valve broken, we were able to classify for the semi-finals.
